Licensing Information for the Handspun Pinafore pattern
Fees & Payment: You may choose from two licensing options: annual or lifetime. Discounts are available for multiple licenses. Purchase all three and save %5!
Annual License: $85 per year for an unlimited number of sales.
Lifetime License: $255 for an unlimited number of sales.
Licensing fees can be paid online via Paypal or sent in with your signed contract in the form of a money order or check. Checks and e-checks must clear before you are approved as a licensee.
A payment plan is available. As soon as you are approved, you may pay 30% up front and begin selling immediately. You will have 60 days to pay the balance in any increments that work for you. If you need longer other terms can be arranged -- contact me to work something out.
MSRP: The suggested retail price for a finished Handspun Pinafore is
1/2: $65, 3/4: $75, 5/6: $88, 7/9: $98, 10/12: $110.
These are only suggested prices and are based on the price I would charge for a finished hat using artisan dyed, premium wool yarn. Please note: these are not suggested retail prices for knitting with handspun yarn. Because prices vary so widely depending on the fiber and style of spinning it is impossible for me to suggest a fair price. If you would like specific help with pricing, please contact me with details and I will help you figure it out. By law, licensees set their own price for a finished item. These suggested prices are to give you some idea of how long it will take to recoup your licensing fee. |
Application Process:
The application process can be done by e-mail or by postal mail.
Please write and include the following information about yourself / your business:
1. Your full name and your business name if applicable
2. A primary and secondary means of contact (i.e. second email address, phone number, etc.)
3. Your mailing address
4. Date you opened your business or began selling your work
5. All URLs of the websites you sell on. If necessary please include the direct link to your store (i.e. http://sallyknits.etsy.com as opposed to just http://www.etsy.com)
6. All URLs of places you have feedback for sales transactions. Please note: negative feedback will not automatically disqualify you from becoming a SMSS Licensee. I am more interested in your business conduct as a whole, and how you have handled situations with dissatisfied customers in the past.
7. A finished sample of the pattern for which you are applying. Your sample can be sent by mail OR by digital photographs of specific areas.
Submitting your sample by mail:
Send in your sample using the above mailing address and include a self addressed stamped envelope if you would like your sample returned. SMSS is not responsible for samples lost or damaged in the mail either way. Shipping insurance is recommended.
Submitting your sample digitally:
Please send your photographs in a zipped file to the above e-mail address. Photographs must be clear and well defined. If I am unable to determine knitting quality from the photographs I will request your sample be sent to my mailing address. Photographs should be in JPEG or GIF format, no smaller than 500px wide & no larger than 800px wide (height is unimportant). Photos shall clearly depict these areas of interest (photos shown are examples of what your picture might look like):
1. front of pinafore
2. back of pinafore
4. (OPTIONAL) If you've made the pinafore for someone who can model it an action shot would be nice, but it is not necessary for licensing.
I will contact you via e-mail once your application has been received and evaluated. If you are approved as a licensee I will attach a PDF of the Cottage License Agreement contract for you to print, sign, and mail in. If you require a copy for your files, please print & sign two and I will sign and return your copy to you.
When your payment (or down payment if you're on a payment plan) and signed contract are received you will be congratulated as an official Sweet Mama Small Sugar Licensed Knitter and may begin selling your SMSS knit items immediately!
